Brighton Resident Discovers Free Parking Space, Refuses To Tell Anyone Where It Is

BRIGHTON — A Brighton resident who claims to have discovered a free parking space has refused to disclose its location amid fears thousands of motorists could descend upon it.

Graphic designer Tom Richards, 34, reportedly discovered the space completely by accident on Wednesday afternoon.

"I assumed I'd missed a sign," he said.

"I checked everywhere.

"No permit. No meter. Nothing."

Richards immediately moved his vehicle before anybody could photograph where he was.

Friends initially refused to believe him.

"Free parking in Brighton is one of those things people talk about but nobody has actually seen," said colleague Emma Walsh.

"Like Bigfoot."

Richards has since returned to the location twice to confirm the space still exists.

He travels there using different routes each time.

"I can't take chances."

Brighton residents have offered him money for the location.

One reportedly offered £600 and a bicycle.

Richards refused.

Asked whether he planned to use the space himself, he said that wasn't the point.

"It's about knowing it's there."

At the time of publication, council officials were reportedly attempting to identify the location.

Richards has gone into hiding.
